Red-tailed hawk missing after vandalism at San Jose's Youth …
Tosh the red-tailed hawk is missing.
About 9:30 p.m. Friday, intruders broke into the Youth Science Institute at San Jose's Alum Rock Park and released — or kidnapped — Tosh, a rescued 20-year-old red-tailed hawk.

Local students place in science competition
WEST LAFAYETTE -- Pope John Paul II Middle School students placed fifth in Saturday's Purdue University Regional Science Olympiad competition and several students took home individual prizes.
The school, competing for the first time in this event, was lead by Pope John Paul II Middle School parent Indira Komanapalli, who was team coach. Kirsten Brewer is in her first year as a science teacher.

Salmon Bowl XII: High school students test marine science knowledge
You have to know about a lot more than fish to be the Salmon Bowl champion: Try some advanced oceanography, geology and biology.
High school students tested their knowledge of all aspects of marine sciences Saturday at the 12th annual event, held at Oregon State University.

Clueless 'science'
Doctors testing a new medicine are -- appropriately -- not told which patients receive placebos and which get the test medication, because that knowledge might unconsciously bias their behavior and observations.
